Our Outdoor Kitchen Design Process

From First Idea to First Cookout — Here’s How We Work

Designing an outdoor kitchen is about more than choosing appliances; it’s about creating a space built for gathering, entertaining, and enjoying your home in a new way.

At M.C. Weeks, our process begins in our showroom, where you can explore outdoor kitchen displays, compare materials and finishes, and work directly with our experienced team to design a solution tailored to your home. From consultation and layout planning to installation and final walkthrough, we guide every step with the same care, craftsmanship, and personal service that have defined our family business for over 80 years.

Start With the Showroom Experience

Your project begins in our showroom, where we take time to understand your space, your goals, and how you want to use your outdoor living area.

During your consultation, we’ll explore kitchen displays, compare countertop and finish options, and review product possibilities while working directly with our experienced team. This isn’t a sales appointment—it’s the conversation where your project starts to take shape.

The Showroom Consultation (1–2 Hours)

Everything starts with a conversation. When you come into our showroom, we spend real time with you, usually 1-2 hours, getting to know your project before we ever talk products. We want to understand your space, your lifestyle, and what you’re hoping to build.

Design & Product Selection

During the site visit, we evaluate more than just dimensions. We look at utility access, gas lines, electrical, drainage, as well as traffic flow, weather exposure, and how the space connects to your existing patio, deck, or home. These details shape a design that works in practice, not just on paper.

Pricing &
Financing

Once the design is set, we put together a detailed proposal. We’re transparent about costs: outdoor kitchen projects vary significantly by size, materials, and product selection. We take an initial deposit on the quoted project costs.

Site Visit &
Measurement

With your space measured and your goals clear, we put together a design that fits both. We draw on the brands and product lines we carry to find the right combination for your project.

The
Installation

When you’re ready to move forward, we handle the installation. Our team manages the process from delivery through completion; you won’t be coordinating between multiple contractors or wondering who to call with a question.

After
the Install

Our relationship doesn’t end when the job does. We stand behind what we install and are available after the project is complete if you have questions, need adjustments, or want to add to your outdoor space down the road.

Many outdoor kitchen projects naturally grow into complete outdoor living environments. Once the kitchen is in place, the question becomes: what else would make this space work better?

We help homeowners integrate:

  • Pergolas and shade structures
  • Motorized outdoor screens
  • Fire features and fireplaces
  • Heaters for extended seasonal use
  • Outdoor refrigeration and beverage centers

Planning the full environment together, rather than adding pieces over time, produces a space that functions as one cohesive experience. Our team can help you think through the whole picture from the start, or pick up where your kitchen project leaves off.

Long-Term Performance

Typically, this runs 6-12 weeks.

We have a small selection of ready-to-purchase kitchen islands priced from $7k to $15k, and custom Kitchens range from $20k to $60k on average with Coyote products. It’s easy to exceed that with Ultra Premium appliances and large complex designs. However, there are so many options that we can tailor our kitchens to any budget.

No permit required for the kitchen, but possibly for Gas/Electric/Plumbing. Our trade partners and MCW can coordinate this with you.

Yes!

Yes, M.C. Weeks works with both homeowners and commercial property owners. We work with Homeowners, Contractors, Deck Builders, Landscapers, Hardscape Builders, Builders, Property Managers, and HOAs.

That’s exactly the right time to come in. Our showroom consultation is a no-pressure working session—we can help you figure out what’s possible within different budget ranges so you can make an informed decision. We do a lot of educating at this stage and work with you to find out what’s important to you and ultimately what value you can get for specific budget ranges.

We can be as involved as desired or needed. We design, supply, install, and project manage the entire project for most homeowners. Some contractors will use our complementary design service and only need us to supply the appliances and cabinets. However, we also see many contractors taking advantage of our installation services, as it keeps their projects moving and allows them to focus on their strengths while leveraging ours. We have a complete team of partners to install gas, electric, and plumbing if needed. These partners know what we need, and are responsive and professional.
